Washington International Piano Festival
The Washington International Piano Festival, hosted by the Benjamin T. Rome School of Music, presents the Young Pianist Showcase at 6:45 p.m. with performances by students of Bok Hwa Kim. A Washington International Piano Festival Faculty Recital will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tickets to each day are $20 for adults; $10 for seniors and students; and free admission for CUA students with valid student ID. Washington International Piano Festival

The Young Pianist Showcase resumes at 6:45 p.m. with performances by prizewinners of the 2013 International Young Artist Piano Competition. Brian Ganz, artist-in-residence at St. Mary's College of Maryland and piano faculty member of the Peabody Conservatory of Music, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Tickets to each day are $20 for adults; $10 for seniors and students; and free admission for CUA students with valid student ID. Washington International Piano Festival

On-Site Auto Detailing
The Office of Strategic Sourcing and Procurement has arranged for Detailing Dynamics to offer its car washing and detailing services in the parking lot behind Caldwell Hall on Wednesday, July 31, from 9 a.m. to noon. Members of the CUA community are invited to have their cars cleaned while they’re at work. The cost is $15 for a basic exterior wash; $35 for exterior and interior; other services are additional. Cash, VISA, and MasterCard will be accepted. No reservation is necessary. Remember to secure or remove valuables from the vehicle before leaving it to be cleaned. This service is provided to the campus as a convenience only; CUA does not have any contract or agreement in place and use of the service is entirely at the risk to the individual. Upgrades to Blackboard
Blackboard will be unavailable from 12:01 a.m. on Aug. 13 until Aug. 15. Technology Services will be upgrading Blackboard Learn to Service Pack 11. This upgrade will fix some current issues and include a few new enhancements to the current learning environment. Some new tools will include a global navigation menu, profiles for faculty and students, improved content editor, and redesigned discussion board. Technology Service will offer training on Blackboard beginning Aug. 20. Details will be announced. For more information, visit the website.
