Announcements

Mullen Library Parking Lot Closure
The John K. Mullen of Denver Memorial Library Parking Lot will close at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 22,  and remain closed through Sunday, Aug. 26, to accommodate the tents in which Orientation meals will be served. All vehicles should be removed by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 22. For more information, contact the Office of Campus Activities at 202-319-6003.

Parking Permits for 2012-2013
The parking permit fees for the 2012-2013 academic year have been established. Faculty, staff, and students may purchase their permits beginning Friday, Aug. 17. Employees are encouraged to use payroll deduction for their vehicle registration; this reduces the cost of administering the overall parking program. Part-time benefit eligible employees who will be employed for a full academic semester may be eligible for payroll deduction; eligibility will be determined at the time of registration. Employees choosing not to utilize payroll deduction or who are not eligible to participate may pay for their permits via cash, check, or credit card (VISA, MasterCard, or Discover).

Generally faculty and staff wishing to purchase parking permits must appear in person at the Campus Transportation Management Office (CTMO), Leahy Hall, Room 121, and present a valid CUA ID card (Cardinal Card) and vehicle registration. From Aug. 20 through Aug. 24, faculty and staff may purchase parking permits at the Edward J. Pryzbyla University Center, Room 321. Starting Monday, Aug. 27, faculty, staff, and students can again purchase parking permits at the CTMO in Leahy. Persons registering vehicles will be issued one permit (hangtag). Registrants who operate an alternate vehicle must transfer the permit between vehicles. Faculty permits are provided to full-time members of the faculty, as determined by the Office of the Provost. For more information, call 202-319-5111.

CUA Libraries Introduces Web of Science Database
CUA Libraries announces the availability of Web of Science (WoS), a new database that includes science, social science, and arts and humanities citation indexes. In all, WoS provides citations and references for articles in almost 9,000 high-quality, peer-reviewed journals published from 2002 to the present. It offers users complete bibliographic data, searchable author abstracts, and cited references, and quick and advanced subject searching. The database also features journal citation reports that identify the impact factor or importance of a journal within a specific subject area. For more information, visit the CUA University Libraries page.

Network Name Change
The name of the "CUA Wireless" network on campus has changed to "CUA Guest." Students, faculty, and staff who are using "CUA Wireless" will have to reconnect to "CUA Guest." The "CUAuth Wireless" network will not change. For more information, please visit http://computing.cua.edu/start/wirelesshelp.cfm.

On-Site Auto Detailing
The Office of Procurement Services has arranged for Detailing Dynamics to offer its car washing and detailing services in the parking lot behind Caldwell Hall on Wednesday, Aug. 22, from 8 a.m. to noon. Members of the CUA community are invited to have their cars cleaned while they’re at work. The cost is $15 for a basic exterior wash; $35 for exterior and interior; other services are additional. Cash, VISA, and MasterCard will be accepted. Remember to secure or remove valuables from the vehicle before leaving it to be cleaned. This service is provided to the campus as a convenience only; CUA does not have any contract or agreement in place and use of the service is entirely at the risk to the individual. For additional information, contact Willandria Blount, purchasing agent.

Removal of “Celebrating 125 Years” Wordmark
Now that the University’s 125th anniversary celebration has come to a close, it’s time to remove the “Celebrating 125 Years” wordmark from email signatures. To do so, members of the CUA community should visit http://publications.cua.edu/email/index.cfm and follow the instructions on changing email signatures based on the version of Outlook on their computers.
