Daily Mass

March for Life Volunteers Needed
Each year CUA hosts more than 1,200 people overnight for the annual March for Life and Vigil for Life at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. Volunteers are needed to make this ministry a success. To sign up, visit the Campus Ministry website.

Mandated Power Outages
The Office of Facilities Maintenance and Operations announces that in compliance with Pepco’s annual high-voltage testing and maintenance procedures, the University will experience outages as follows. These annual outages are carefully scheduled during periods that will have the least impact on the daily operations of the University.

Nominate a Servant Leader
The Office of Campus Activities invites members of the CUA community to nominate upperclassman undergraduates to participate in the Servant Leadership Discussions for the spring semester. Servant Leadership Discussions is a series designed for small groups of CUA community members to explore various concepts of servant leadership and learn ways to apply these ideas in academics, student organizations, social lives, and careers.

Emerging Leaders Program Registration
The Emerging Leaders Program is for any undergraduate students interested in getting involved in the CUA community and developing their leadership skills. Workshops begin Wednesday, Jan.18, at 6:30 p.m. in the Pryzbyla Center, Great Room C. For more information, email

Circular Saw For Sale
The Environmental Health and Safety Office has an Emerson model 13-1008R cut-off saw for sale. This 16-inch, single phase, 37 amp, 230 volt, 7.5 Hp, 3450 rpm saw can be viewed and tested by appointment only. The University provides no guarantees or warranties on service or condition. W-2 Options Available Online
The Department of Payroll announces important changes regarding year-end W-2 information available in Employee Self-Service. In an effort to offer green alternatives, the W-2 consent option has been enabled, which provides employees with an electronic W-2 in a PDF format rather than a paper form. Electronic consent also enables employees to view any prior year's W-2 documents. To take advantage of this option, log in to Employee Self-Service within Cardinal Station and select the W-2/W-2c Consent link. Read the entire disclosure statement, check the box to enroll, and click the submit button. Online training is available on this topic and others.

Employees who decline or withdraw consent will not be able to view any W-2 documents in Employee Self-Service. At the end of each tax year, they will receive a paper W-2 document in the mail, postmarked no later than Jan. 31 of the next year. These documents will be mailed to the home address on file with the Office of Human Resources, so it is very important to keep that information up to date. Cardinal Station Employee Self-Service
The Department of Payroll announces that Cardinal Station Employee Self-Service features have been expanded. Employees can now update federal W-4 withholding exemptions and direct deposit selections online. The expanded features are completely secure. Online training is available for these and other topics. The payroll department will continue to accept and process paper forms for state withholding, W-4, and direct deposit through the end of the current year as the community continues its transition to Employee Self-Service. For more information, call 202-319-5512.

Vatican II International Conference
The Pontifical John Paul II Institute for Studies on Marriage and Family will host an international conference, Keeping the World Awake to God: The Challenge of Vatican II, on Jan. 12-14, 2012, in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Second Vatican Council. Cardinal Francis George, O.M.I, archbishop of Chicago and CUA trustee, will give a lecture titled "The Significance of Vatican II" at 7 p.m., Jan. 12, as part of the conference. Is CUA Open or Closed?
The Office of Public Affairs wishes to remind faculty, staff, and students how to find out about the closing or delayed opening of Catholic University because of inclement weather. The quickest ways are to check the CUA website at or to call the University’s main number — 202-319-5000. The information is available through those two sources by 6 a.m. on days when weather conditions are extremely poor. In addition, CUA contacts all local TV outlets and major radio stations.

Fitness in the Fall Winners
The Office of Human Resources announces the individual and team winners of the Fitness in the Fall walking program. The human resources office congratulates individual winners Samantha Saporito with 496,229 steps and Anna Chiafele with 485,799 steps and the team of Luz Dullin-Jones, David Pennington, Christopher Cummins, Corrine Dolan, Marek Stybor, and Rev. Andrew Santamauro, O.F.M. Conv., for the highest number of team steps. The CUA community is encouraged to stay tuned for the upcoming spring wellness event.

New Staff
