Campus Employment Fair
The Office of Career Services will hold its annual campus employment fair Wednesday, Aug. 27, from 10 a.m. to  2 p.m. Edward J. Pryzbyla University Center, Great Room. This is an excellent opportunity to meet and hire prospective work-study and non work-study students. Call Career Services at 202-319-5623 to register your office or for more information.

Federal Work-Study Update

Holy Hour to Pray for Service Members
Most Rev.Timothy P. Broglio, archbishop of the Archdiocese for Military Services, is hosting a Holy Hour and invites the university community to pray for service men and women, deceased, wounded in action, and deployed. The Holy Hour will be held on Sunday, Aug. 3, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Crypt Church of the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. The prayer service will be followed by a small reception.

Library Reminder to Faculty for Central Reserves
The reserves deadline is fast approaching: Please submit requests by Friday, Aug. 8. Submitting complete and accurate Reserve Request Forms, which are available at>, with accompanying materials by this date will ensure that they are available to students by the start of classes. Materials received after the deadline will be processed, but may not be available at the beginning of the fall semester 2008.

Work-Study Supervisor Training

Student Medical Insurance Waiver Information
Student medical insurance waiver forms for the 2008-2009 academic year must be completed and submitted online at Also be aware that coverage information submitted during the waiver process will be verified. If information provided is found to be invalid, students will automatically be enrolled in the CUA plan. Eligible CUA students may waive their CUA student medical insurance plan as long as they have alternative health insurance coverage that provides benefits equal to or better than the university plan. The deadline to waive enrollment for the 2008 fall term is Sept. 6, 2008.
Also note that:
*Part-time domestic students are not automatically enrolled and do not need to waive enrollment.
**Part-time international students will be automatically enrolled unless they complete the online waiver and review of coverage by the student medical administrator.
Students will be enrolled in and charged for the CUA student medical plan unless an online waiver is submitted. Students must be prepared to provide evidence of alternate coverage upon request by the administrator.
The student medical plan charge is not refundable or transferable. A student incorrectly billed for the student medical plan must provide notification before the end of late registration of the semester in which the incorrect billing occurred or remain responsible for the charges.

Insurance Policy Review for International Students with Alternative Health Insurance
Once international students complete their online waiver, they are instructed to bring a copy of their alternative health insurance policies to the CUA student medical insurance administrator. In order for international students to complete the waiver process, they must give a copy of the benefits provided by their alternative health insurance policy to the CUA student medical insurance plan administrator for review. The administrator will check to see that the alternative health insurance policy meets all federal government requirements and that both repatriation and evacuation are covered. A copy of the alternative health insurance policy benefits, written in English, and the corresponding insurance card are required for this review. If you do not have a copy of your benefits, you should request a copy from the agent who sold you the policy. Web site descriptions of benefits may be used for this review as long as you present your health insurance identification card.
